The University of East Anglia sits in parkland on the western edge of Norwich, and the streets between campus and the city are the centre of student life. Our student lettings team works this patch all year round and knows it inside out.
Most students rent in the triangle between the UEA, Earlham Road and Unthank Road: the Avenues, the streets off Earlham and Dereham Road, and the terraces towards the Golden Triangle. It is a friendly, well-worn student route with corner shops, takeaways, launderettes and pubs that have served generations of house shares.
Campus itself brings the concrete ziggurats, the lake and Earlham Park, along with the Sportspark, one of the biggest sports centres in the country, and the Sainsbury Centre gallery. When lectures finish, the city centre is a short bus ride or a pleasant cycle away.
The 25 and 26 buses run between the city and campus every few minutes in term time, and many students simply cycle, with a direct route along the Avenues. Most shared houses sit within a twenty to thirty minute walk of lectures. If you bring a car, check parking arrangements at the property, as some streets near campus operate permits.
Day-to-day life is easy: supermarkets on Earlham Road and Dereham Road, the Eaton Centre Waitrose nearby, and endless coffee within reach of the library. Earlham Park hosts festivals and open-air events in summer, and the city’s nightlife, cinemas and music venues are all a short hop away.
Student homes here range from three bedroom terraces to six bedroom houses, mostly let on joint tenancies from July. The best houses go early: the search for next academic year starts before Christmas and the strongest properties are gone by spring.
